Great Contemporary Styles for Kitchen Renovations

Nov 10, 2015

Kitchens are popular home renovations in the Perth area. Updating the kitchen is one of the quickest ways to modernise a home or to raise its value for an impending sale. A great kitchen renovation can elevate the eventual sale price of a home by much more than it cost to do the renovation.

In modern society, the kitchen has become the true “family room” for many families. Kitchens have turned into de facto dining rooms and even homework nooks, besides their normal function of being the place where food is prepared and beverages are poured. This has caused kitchens to evolve into much more than they were even thirty years ago.

Renovating Your Kitchen

When renovating your kitchen, there are three basic style variants, though they are really infinite because there are so many choices. Here is a look at three great kitchen renovation strategies.

Eclectic Design

This is a catch-all term that means “do whatever you want.” Due to the modern lifestyle, this is possibly the most popular way to redo a kitchen. Basically, you mix whatever you want into your kitchen without regard for a proper “theme.” This can range from vintage to rustic to bohemian with elements of all three.

We have seen mismatched furniture and an array of different motifs, patterns and textures. Highly recommended for someone who is visual, artistic and independent.

Mediterranean Design

This is a sophisticated version of rustic design, combining old-world charm with contemporary design elements. You can combine a central kitchen island, a white ceiling with exposed natural timber beams and a natural finish on cabinets. Add in a little sunlight to create the illusion of added space and you are all set.

Scandinavian Design

This is a minimalist design, heavy on space and light on eye clutter. Larger windows can allow more sunlight and great ventilation. Blonde-coloured timber floorboards and furniture can anchor the visual aspect with a few splashes of white for context.
