The Importance of Location for Your New Alfresco Area

Jul 23, 2014

Though our name is Next Level Extensions, we also do a lot of home renovations around Perth. Whether we are doing extensions or renovations, it seems like almost everyone wants an alfresco living area. We love the concept of an alfresco area. It effectively extends your living space by utilising part of your outdoor space.

When we are doing consultation and planning for home extensions and renovations, our Perth area customers eventually ask us, “Where is the best spot to put the alfresco area?” There is no “one size fits all” answer to this, so we start asking questions. We like to know what they want to use it for.

Many people like to eat in their alfresco area as much as possible. For them, we try to find a way to make it really close to the kitchen. For those who want to use it to entertain guests with afternoon or after dinner parties where beverages and snacks are the main focus, we like it to be located near the family room.

Our favourite kind of alfresco dining area, though, is the self-contained one that has a BBQ set up or even an oven. We can also make room for a very nice bar and TV set. This usually works the best off of the family room on the rear side of the home.

Using Your Space Correctly

Ultimately, though, the best place for your alfresco area will be determined by what you have to work with and what you want. We are fans of the backyard alfresco area adjacent to a family room or living room and we like it to be self-contained for BBQ, but ultimately, it needs to be right for you.

Decide what you want to use it for: family meals, parties, entertaining friends on the weekend, sport viewing parties, BBQ, etc. Is a bar appropriate? How about a TV? An oven?
